Nobody likes endings...but they're pretty much unavoidable. As a Potterhead, I dreaded and waited in eager anticipation for the seventh book. I didn't get the pleasure of growing up with Harry Potter, waiting for every book to come out with bated breath, but it was undeniably a part of my childhood and shaped me into becoming the person I am today. It was--and is--a truly magical story. Although all books are like a gateway to another planet, Harry Potter is uniquely a gateway to another universe. It's just close enough to ours that we understand it, but there's enough wonderment and magic and mystique that we find delight in the unknown.
I can still remember when my mom read the Sorcerer's Stone to me and my siblings. We laughed so hard at J.K. Rowling's clever and witty writing style. Half of the things we laughed at, though, were the Chocolate Frogs (they're animated with a spell to make them hop!!) or the floating candles (candles that float!) or Mr. Dursley asking if Harry thought he was stupid when he had egg on his walrus mustache. Harry is a sassmaster (as we all know) and helped me unlock my true potential as a smartmouth rebel.
This group, for a long time, has been a way for me to channel my love for Harry Potter by making contests to get the group involved and interacting. But due to personal issues and lots of stuff in my own life, I have to resign. I'm so sorry and I will miss you guys so much.
Here's some magical tips for you guys:
And with that, I'd like to say a few words; nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!
Keep your quills sharp.
Let yourself be an individual, like a Hufflepuff.
Make yourself brave and kind like a Gryffindor.
Be cunning and have good sense like a Slytherin.
Pursue wisdom like a Ravenclaw.
You will never be perfect, but nobody is, so don't worry.
Apologize when you're wrong, and in turn forgive others for their wrongdoings.
Take good care of yourself. Your life is a gift, and there are so many beautiful and good things to find delight in in this world. Don't waste it!
Never underestimate the magic of kindness.
